This is an authentic Dutch Colonial Home in the Quaker Hill Historic District, New London County, Connecticut.
Because of a desire to build a 1.5 story home, Dutch Colonists developed roof techniques to create attic rooms without extremely tall roofs. Off-set front doors, open fireplaces, clapboard, swooping roof lines, and dramatically overhanging eaves are all characteristics of the period.
Today, many luxury coastal homes are inspired by Dutch Colonial architecture. Bay windows, turrets, and wrapping porches build upon the delightful character inherent to the Dutch Colonial style. You may like to shop
