In this photo, you can see that thin fabric is conducive to precision pleating. While sheer and translucent fabrics are often used in an unstructured way, we like the way it performs here, allowing the viewer to see the working mechanisms of the modern hardware as well as the expert sewing.
Imagine now that we are making a box pleated drapery of a traditional fabric. The thicker the fabric, the softer the shaping will be. Interlined fabric will not yield the sharpness achieved here.
