Border or No Border in Area Rugs
Borders always shrink the visual size of the rug. The wider the border, the more the shrinkage. The closer the border is to the color of the field the less this is so. Consider a larger rug or a less dramatic border if the smaller effect seems like a negative in your room. Free design help for our rugs is available by calling 615-601-0552
Why border? Borders provide a pattern which finishes the edges of the rug and makes a transition to other flooring. If your furnishings are the color of the border rather than the field, the border will connect them. Borders can define a table or grouping which floats within a room.
Centered designs are enhanced by borders which draw your eye inward. Borders can radiate from the center in an effective way.
