Shop Design Nashville is a division of Trends & Traditions interior design, providing residential interior design service and designer furnishings. This site is an extension of that business. Most items shown in our online store ship internationally.

Our owner and lead designer is Tanna Espy Miller. Accreditations include: Bachelor of Fine Arts, 26 years in business, Master of Business Administration, graduating May 2016 Middle Tennessee State University 2016, Member Beta Gamma Sigma (Business Honor Society), Member Golden Key Honor Society, Member Tradebank International (business to business bartering), Columnist: "Ask a Designer" Nashville House and Home and Garden Magazine.

We design and fabricate Espy Exclusive Collections, Natalya and Ira, and Vintage Now. Design Nashville is also an authorized representative of many designer lines of merchandise shown here.

Custom orders and Special orders are our specialty. Many of the bedding collections can incorporate other fabrics, or new designs can be made with existing fabrics. Custom draperies are available for most collections using matching fabric. Sofas can be custom lengths or add contrasting fabrics to sides and cushions. Production will be in the order received by each workroom. Production time is usually 40-90 days from the time that all materials and documents are received. In the event of backordered materials we will offer up to 3 selections as substitutes without design charge. If time is of the essence, we can attempt to design with only in stock materials. Priority is given to design and fabrication excellence over quick delivery. Custom orders can be canceled within 72 hours of ordering. Design charges of $85 will be applied before refund. After 72 hours, no refund of deposit or payment is possible.

Orders. We accept orders by online checkout, phone, square cash, pay pal request, and personal or business checks. The site checkout and pay pal are double blind systems in which we never see your account information and have no ability to charge your account in the future. Checkout is powered by pay pal. You do not need a pay pal account. Credit cards, debit cards, and American Express are accepted. Our checkout can process a maximum of $10,000 in one transaction. With special permission, the amount can be raised. Credit card phone orders are taken by one person and kept in confidence. Checks must clear the bank before shipment is made. Are you having TROUBLE AT CHECKOUT: If your transaction will not complete, call Paypal 888-221-1161 for assistance. If you have returned merchandise or initiated a charge back recently, paypal may not accept your payment. Call to make payment arrangements if needed.

Pricing In many cases, we are specially authorized to represent manufacturer's because we are a design firm offering full service and not just an internet store. In order to protect small boutique shops, most manufacturers set minimum pricing. Our price is typically 10-20% less than competitive retail and close to or meeting manufacturer's minimum advertised pricing policy. If you see any price that looks inappropriate for what you want to order (including freight), please call and we will double check it.

As an interior design company, we specialize in original designs. Exclusive and custom bedding and drapery are our specialty. Tanna Miller, lead designer holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree and is nearing completion of an Masters in Business Administration with a gpa of 4.0. Her experience ranges from oil paintings to furniture design to interior design. Her accomplishments include 12 trade show awards of excellence, 2 parade homes, 3 model homes, live interviews on "Talk of the Town", "The midday news, channel 4", Saturday morning news, channel 5, published in Southern Living, voted # 1 designer Nashville House and Home and Garden magazine, and ongoing writing projects with and Nashville House and Home and Garden magazine.

Design service and advice is optional. A small amount of free help is available to all customers. Other services can be hourly or at a flat rate.

Sustainability The interior design industry has not been an early adopter of sustainability methodologies. However, we have been able to make some progress toward sustainable goals. We feature drop shipping suppliers that use sustainable materials such as wool or sea grass for rugs. (Lower priced rugs are synthetic. Not all suppliers conform to best practices.) Our merchandise is high quality for long lasting use. We avoid disposable or short term products because of their high impact on the environment.
Espy Exclusive Collections, Natalya and Ira Designs, and Vintage Now items are fabricated under our direct supervision. We implement the following methods toward sustainability goals:
95% of all information is shared electronically (without the use of paper)
All paper products are recycled.
We avoid materials that blend organic and chemical elements making them impossible to recycle.
Most shipping containers are reused.
We use no petroleum based chemicals or paints.
All latex paint and pigment leftovers are disposed of with office waste not in the water system.
Less than 5% of material scrap is disposed.
Fabric remnants are made into pillows, wall decor, and given to charitable groups. (Quilts made of our high end woven goods were used as hammocks in Haiti. Other remnants became book bags for children of Europe)

Diversity The supply side of the design industry has been highly diverse for over a decade. But, many interior design firms operate in exclusive cultural niches. Our design mission encompasses a much wider view. We enjoy and encourage business with a wide range of people, because it enriches our lives and offers unique design opportunities. Design Nashville has few employees, but our international suppliers and customers are highly diverse in terms of national origin, race, age, sexual orientation, language, and culture. We provide metric conversions, language translations, and complimentary, extended customer service for blind, deaf, or handicapped individuals.

Most answers to customer questions require some research, images, or sketches to answer. Email is best for this. Email is checked more frequently than text messages. Phone is used by appointment.

Shipping information:

Orders will be processed in approximately 1-2 business days. Shipping time and lead time varies from item to item. Many lamps and home decor items drop ship from the manufacturer from regional distribution centers. Some furniture requires truck and local delivery. Most bedding and draperies are made to order requiring lead time and production time.

Shipping of small items such as lamps and bedding is by UPS , FEDX, or USPS. Furniture, large ottomans, and some art are shipped by motor freight. Tracking of motor shipments is not available. Shipping times can vary between 6 DAYS and 5 WEEKS depending on location and type of delivery. Residential delivery to some locations requires working with a trucking company and a delivery company. These deliveries are always 2.5 weeks or more and have taken as long as 4.5 weeks depending on service available. Call is you want white glove service. In some locations, the only way we can get you a piece is with white glove. Unless specified, we will use the least expensive method available which will bring your piece to the threshold. For your convenience, commercial delivery is available. Please consider your place of work or other local receiving dock if speed is most important to you. You are welcome to provide a shipper of your own.

All shipping costs indicated are estimates. We reserve the right to verify actual costs and bill you for any additional freight. We never charge more than the actual freight bill.

Returns: We are an interior design firm extending out resources to the public. All orders are special orders or custom orders made on your behalf.

We cannot provide a "try it on to see if it fits" kind of service with custom or special orders. Please take care to make good purchasing decisions. We are here to provide professional design advice and will always give you honest, good opinions and never push you to purchase anything. In fact, we don't call you by phone. Any follow up will be by email.

Returns are accepted only with return authorization. We accept returns for defective manufactured products or items significantly not as pictured. We do not take responsibility for matching our color vocabulary to your understanding of a color. In most cases, swatches or samples are available. Please protect yourself by ordering them. Custom made items are not returnable. Alterations and repairs will be done upon agreement. Items ruined in shipping will be recreated. WE Discontinue working with SUPPLIERS IF WE HAVE MORE THAN ONE ISSUE WITH BREAKAGE. Your confidence is important to us.

Exception: Rugs are returnable without defect with a 10 % restocking charge in its original condition unless the item is discontinue.
